Quick 10-Day itinerary To Help You Discover Peru

Peru is an amazing destination full of history, culture, and natural wonders. This itinerary will give you a taste of some of Peru’s tourist places to visit.

Day 1: Lima 

Start your trip in the vibrant capital city of Lima. Explore the historic downtown area, including the beautiful Plaza de Armas, the Presidential Palace, and the San Francisco Monastery. For lunch, try some ceviche, a popular Peruvian dish made with fresh seafood, at one of the many seafood restaurants in the city. In the afternoon, head to the bohemian district of Barranco and walk along the Malecón, a coastal boardwalk with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 2: Paracas and Huacachina 

Take an early morning bus to the coastal town of Paracas, known for its beautiful beaches and natural reserve. Take a boat tour of the Ballestas Islands, home to a variety of wildlife including sea lions, penguins, and dolphins. In the afternoon, head to the desert oasis of Huacachina which is an attraction nearby where you can go sandboarding and dune buggy riding.

Day 3: Nazca Lines and Arequipa 

Take a flight over the famous Nazca Lines, a series of mysterious geoglyphs etched into the desert floor. In the afternoon, take a bus to the colonial city of Arequipa, known for its stunning architecture and beautiful churches. Explore the Santa Catalina Monastery, a beautiful complex of colorful buildings and peaceful courtyards.

Day 4: Colca Canyon 

Take a day trip to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world and home to the Andean condor. Stop at several viewpoints along the way to take in the stunning scenery, and take a dip in the hot springs of La Calera in the afternoon.

Day 5: Cusco 

Fly to the ancient city of Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire. Spend the afternoon exploring the city's historic center, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cusco Cathedral, and the Qoricancha Temple.

Day 6: Sacred Valley 

Take a day trip to the Sacred Valley, a beautiful area just outside of Cusco that is home to many Inca ruins and traditional villages. Visit the Pisac ruins and market, the Ollantaytambo fortress, and the Chinchero weaving center.

Day 7: Machu Picchu 

Take an early morning train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Spend the day exploring the ancient Inca city, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Hike to the Sun Gate for stunning views of the site and the surrounding mountains.

Day 8: Rainbow Mountain 

Take a day trip to the Rainbow Mountain, a stunning natural wonder with colorful stripes of rock. Hike to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 9: Puno and Lake Titicaca 

Take a bus to the city of Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Take a boat tour of the lake, visiting the Uros floating islands and the Taquile Island, known for its traditional handicrafts and textiles.

Day 10: Lima 

Fly back to Lima for your final day in Peru. Spend the day exploring the city's vibrant neighborhoods, including the trendy Miraflores district and the bohemian Barranco. For your last dinner in Peru, try some anticuchos, grilled beef heart skewers, at one of the city's many street food vendors.
