Mall Hopping in Kuala Lumpur

Mall Hopping in Kuala Lumpur

Are you guilty of adding too many items to your shopping cart? Or are you someone who is not ashamed of matching a Gucci bag with an Armani watch? Do you regret splurging your salary the moment it arrives, just because it was the end-of-season sale? Or Maybe Not. If shopping is something that makes your heart sing and your spirit dance, then Kuala Lumpur is just the place for you.  Head to an extravagant mall, if you are looking for high-end labels and don’t mind loosening your purse strings a little. However, several shopping avenues are also available for those on a budget. While most travelers often head to the mainstream shopping destinations, they tend to miss out on the lesser-known yet shop-worthy avenues that offer a bevy of shopping options. Here’s a list of some of the best malls in Kuala Lumpur that are sure to check all items on your bucket list:

1) Plaza Low Yat: Plaza Low Yat is a one-stop-shop destination for electronics. It comprises 500 stores that span across 7 floors. This mall is touted to be Malaysia’s largest IT mall.  While one floor is fully dedicated to mobile phones, two others solely offer desktops and laptops. During your visit, you will come across several camera and gaming stores as well. Facilities for service and repair are also available at Plaza Low Yat. In addition to shopping, you can indulge in fun and merriment at the Red Box karaoke bar.

Pro-Tips:

·       Head to Arthur's Bar & Grill if you wish to rest your legs after a tiring shopping spree.

·       Make sure you bargain at the local stores of Plaza Low Yat. Unlike other shopping malls, several haggle here to procure products at the best possible prices.

2) Bangsar Shopping Centre: Bangsar Shopping Centre comprises 6 storeys, sprawling across 322,000 square feet. This mall has several fine-dining restaurants and high-end labels, making it a great option for those who enjoy the finer things in life. Travel back in time by stepping into the colonial store whose items help you to add an aesthetic touch to your home. Feel free to bring along your kids and four-legged buddies as Bangsar Shopping Centre offers a play area for kids and a pet center.

3) Sunway Putra Mall: With over 300 stores, Sunway Putra Mall features several local and international labels. You can navigate through four sections namely Vanity Hall, Market Place, Selera Street, and Asian Avenue. From fashion and beauty apparel to grocery stores, this mall offers a huge range of items. Asian Avenue is one of the most unique zones. Akin to its name, this zone features Asian outlets that offer fashion apparel, accessories as well as food and beverage items.

Pro-tip: Visit the famous fine dining restaurant, Chalet Suisse after enjoying a pleasurable yet tiresome shopping excursion at Sunway Putra Mall. This restaurant is also a great option for oenophiles.

While the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur offers myriad cultural experiences, they are incomplete without a joyful shopping spree.
