· Virupaksha Temple: Dedicated to Lord Virupaksha, who is most commonly referred to as Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the most sacred places of worship according to Hindu mythology. The temple features tall pillars, chambers, beautiful sculptures and carvings. The courtyards and shrines that surround this temple are to look out for. While Lord Shiva is the ruling deity of the temple, you can also find sculptures of other Hindu deities including Goddess Pampa and Lord Vishnu.
Pro Tip- Try to visit this temple during the Chariot Festival which is usually hosted in March or April.
· Vittala Temple: Akin to its name, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vittala or Lord Vishnu with a deep-rooted history dating back to the 15th century. While this temple is adorned with several shrines, halls and pavilions, the musical pillars are its main highlight. There are 56 music pillars, known as the SaReGa MaPa pillars in the Ranga Mantapa. In addition to enjoying melodious musical notes, you can also marvel at the beauty of the stone chariot situated inside.
