For some, a vacation means locking their phones away, distancing themselves from the world and taking in spectacular sights before them without the incessant pinging of notifications in the background. For some others, however, a vacation spent without posting pictures is a vacation not lived. If you’re in or planning a trip to Madrid and fall in the category of ardent social media users, this city will not disappoint you. Here is a list of majestic buildings, iconic squares and intriguing sculptures that you must visit to make a splash on the ‘Gram!

Plaza Mayor
A stone’s throw away from “door of the sun”, or Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor is yet another noteworthy square. Here you can enjoy the chance of taking snaps at the foot of the heroic Equestrian statue of Philip III, at the doorway of the Casa de la Panadería, which is among the older bakeries of the city, and under the imposing Arco de Cuchilleros.
If you are here in the busy month of December, a picture with the gregarious stall owners selling Christmas essentials is also a must.
Gran Vía
It is now time for the beautiful boulevard of Gran Vía. Built between 1910 and 1929, this massive route is lined with stores, restaurants and some of the city’s most stunning buildings. Stand across the iconic Metropolis and capture a picture right below the architectural marvel. The famous Schweppes signboard is a mandatory backdrop too.
Parque del Retiro
You can break the clutter of pictures before statues and buildings with a visit to the serene Parque del Retiro. This famous park is home to a scenic lake, whereby you can hop on a boat and capture a dreamy snap with the azure waterbody and the captivating Crystal Palace in the background.
